A picture is worth 1000 words

I have always heard that a picture is worth a thousand words. If that's the case, then we are working on a short novel these past few days.
When I woke up this morning Ben called me into the kitchen, it was urgent that I saw this right away. Hmmm...never really noticed that a slice of banana looks quite a bit like an electrical outlet.
Then, for some reason, a pair of doves decided to nuzzle and frolic on my deck. There is no seed on this side of the yard, so I'm not sure what attracted them here - though I was happy to see them. Colt had to wait to go outside and play for the day, I didn't have the heart to scare them off.
Reese tuckered himself out while watching The Backyardigans with his sister this weekend. With missing pants and all his chubby glory.
This is the best part though. This video here, this is amazing. He has NEVER done this before! It's exciting, yet sad at the same time. I'm not ready for him to grow up so quickly.
Check out Reese communicating! No beans for me ma

Reese makes using the computer next to impossible, so I give up for now.
Bye everyone!

Things are looking brighter

The sun is shining today, and temperatures are supposed to be getting a little friendlier over the next week. Reese seems to be feeling better too. He came down with a nasty sore throat on Monday, didn't eat for about twelve hours. I ended up taking him to the clinic Monday afternoon, because he wouldn't take milk, water, baby food, or fruit. He basically started to go dry on me, not wetting diapers. The pediatrician gave us a list of medicines to use to numb his throat so he would eat.
He was a pretty sad little guy, but he tried to be chipper. I got a picture of him playing on the floor. He was just so pooped out that he had to rest his head to watch "Little Bear".
He must be feeling a lot better now, he's in his walker chasing the dog around as I type. He just stopped by the office door to sing me his theme song before taking off again. He looks pretty dashing in his new striped shirt (see photos).
Ben has a casual day and "goody day" at work, so he was off to work this morning with the crock pot full of hot dogs. I am thankful for Sam's Club, where you can buy a case of the Oscar Mayer delights for a darn good price (buns were cheap too).
Maddie has picture day again today, but I don't know how excited she was about it. Yeah, it's not really all that much fun as far as I can remember.
Reese and I will be heading into Mankato today, we are getting out of the house for a while. Shopko is having a huge sale today and tomorrow, so we are going to go check it all out.
I think Ben is planning on helping is parents with some carpet for one of the apartments Saturday, and going with Jennifer to see Grandma on Sunday.
I better wrap this up if we are going to get to Mankato anytime today.
Take care everyone, we send you all our love.

How we spent our weekend

Hello everyone, hope you are enjoying your Monday so far.
Maddie had a sleepover with her friend Jessica Friday night, and we spent most of the weekend painting our living room and dining room. We finally got rid of those awful green colors!
Our front rooms no longer have that dark, cave-like feel about them. I couldn't be more thrilled! I have included some before and after shots, as well as a picture of Maddie and Jessica.
Reese is in the throes of teething, working on getting number six through any minute now. No sooner did those top teeth come in when he figured out how to grind his teeth. It makes our skin crawl, but he really seems to enjoy it. Ick. He is also walking in his walker, rather than just pushing off with both feet at once. He's pretty quick in that thing!
I started some of my garden seeds last Wednesday, and have been anxious to see something grow. I awoke this morning to a bunch of my pots with tiny little sprouts! It really made my day (along with the bright, cheerful front rooms). I picked up more starter pots this past weekend, so I was able to get my green peppers started this morning. Hopefully I will see something emerging from those in a few days as well.
We are really looking forward to our garden this year. We are growing radishes, carrots, watermelon, pumpkins, yellow squash, zucchini, two kinds of lettuce, green peppers, green beans, peas, cucumbers, early tomatoes, big tomatoes, and Amish paste tomatoes. I planted way too many tomatoes, I'm sure - but I have yet to have a problem using up canned tomatoes so I'm not terribly worried.
Reese probably needs a nap, since he managed only a five minute nap this morning (literally, he slept only five minutes). I better wrap this up now.
I hope you are all doing well and enjoying the spring weather. Take care everyone!
