A fresh new look

As you can see, I have updated our blog with a fresh new look. Hope all of you enjoy it. I know I do.
Here is a funny video of Reese's reaction to being told no: I wheeze in your general direction!

And this is a fine example of his motor-boat sound skills: A motorboat on helium might sound like this

March Family Vacation 2007

The March family vacation took place in Spicer this year. We had a cabin at Willow Bay Resort June 9th through the 12th. It was pretty relaxing - well, except for Sunday night, when the entire resort holed up in the basement of our cabin for a thunderstorm warning. That was a little unnerving, but we came through it unscathed.

The kids had a blast playing in the lake, and were so well behaved. As usual, we enjoyed a lot of good food and had lots of laughs. There were a few sunburns too.

Reese had his first lake experience, and we actually had the camera handy (for a change) to capture the moment.

We were lucky enough to get some family photos too!

We are still in mid auto
repair drama with our truck. The mechanic has had it since the third, and the issue still isn't resolved. We got a call on our way home Tuesday and a new computer was going to be ordered that day. We were told by the time the part was delivered, programmed, and installed it should be done by the end of this week. Here we sit on Friday, and the part hasn't even come in yet. They are hoping the part will be in by Tuesday next week.
I can only sigh in disgust at this point.

Maddie's summer vacation has taken a detour on the road to fun. She came down with a sore throat and a fever on Wednesday. I took her into the doctor right away Thursday morning and he said she either just has a virus or it might be mono. Well, if it is mono, at least she won't miss school this way. Poor kid, her friend called about a sleepover tonight. It's a bummer being sick.

I better get back to the things I need to get done now.

Hope everyone is enjoying their summer and keeping cool and comfortable.

Day One of Summer Vacation

Well, today is the first official day of Maddie's summer vacation.
By noon Maddie had already asked me if it was actually physically possible to die from boredom.

Reese is in the throes of teething agony, pretty much fussing and crying all the time. He has a runny nose and doesn't sleep well. If he was happy and not napping things would be just fine, but he is into the back-arching tantrum throwing.

Is today over with yet?

One room down, five to go!

We have officially refinished the hardwood floor in Reese's room!

This is what the floor looked like after all the sanding was done
(it was sanded many times).

Here Jim putting the wood filler on.

This is the first layer of varnish being applied.
At least I think that is what it's called, all I really know it's that it's clear s
tuff and that we put on a few coats.

Reese tested out the pretty floor a couple days later.

I think Ben is planning on doing our bedroom floor next, followed by the office, and the front rooms last. I'm just glad this is something that doesn't have to be done very often, it is a really big project for Ben. He did a great job though, Reese's floor looks like brand new!
